UNITED STATES BLIND POWERLIFTING
I am a praying man of God, and Husband, Father, Nurturing Dad, Provider of Spiritual and scriptural direction for my family, a Veteran, have two Associate Degrees, and I am Blind.
I was diagnosed with Glaucoma at age of 39 in 1989, at that point I was visually impaired, and by 1998 I was totally blind. Glaucoma is a genetic family disease.
Since 2005, I have been an “Prostate Cancer” survivor and diabetic. The effects of these two diseases on my physical and mental health were so devastating, that they caused me to take up the sport of Powerlifting in February of 2009 under the training of Coach Joe Braca, who was the major partner of the underground gym of Flourtown, PA, with Robert Keller. It was after attending the “USABA Adaptive Sports Camp for Veterans” in July 2008, I made this decision. Some of my accomplishments are: - 2012 – Won gold and set deadlift record for m3a age group at the IBSA 2012 World Games, 17 other countries attended and competed in powerlifting. - 2013 – At Raw Nationals as an USABA power-lifter won Gold as M3a category (age 60 to 64). I am 63 years of age - 2014 – at Raw Nationals as an USABA power-lifter won Gold as M3a category (age 60 to 64), I am 64 years of age I pray that my God, in the name of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, will bless me to compete until I am 80 years of age or longer.
